I have a Toshiba satellite C55 – A Laptop. It has Windows 8.1, and I am using Google Chrome. One night I shut the computer down and gently placed it in its secure place. It was not bumped nor was anything spilt on it. The next morning when I turned it on the entire keyboard would not work with the exception of the screen brighter and the screen dimmer keys located above 2 and 3. I have ran every test of the computer has and it says that the keyboard is functioning normally. I have uninstalled the keyboard and had it reinstall. It still did not work and again the test said the keyboard was working properly. I am having to use Dragon speech recognition software and the built-in on-screen keyboard. Check the similar problem in the thread. If tests say it's functioning normally and obviously it's not, it has to be a software issue, possibly an infection. Cause and advice given here for a similar issue.
