I have recently started putting together my first real high-performance rig. I am running the following components:
- MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming Motherboard
- Intel Core i7-4770K (4.0GHz)
- MSI GTX 770 4GB OC (1.1GHz)
- Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB DDR3-1866 (2x8GB)
- EVGA SuperNOVA 750W Bronze Semi-Modular

My question is this: Do I need to cool the chipset heatsink? I have noticed that it gets VERY hot and am wondering if there are any options to cool it or if it needs to be cooled at all.

What is wrong with the power supply? I have read nothing but good reviews about it. I am not telling you that you're wrong. I genuinely want some input.

How you know it gets hot. Touched it or checking with some monitoring softwares?

It's pretty normal if the temps are around like 40-45C under load.

Very very warm is a really relative thing. Chipsets get hot and it makes the heatsink hot as well. But it shouldn't be that hot to burn your finger in two seconds.

Just download HWInfo64 and check the motherboard temp, PCH temp and VRT1 VRT2 temps under IR3563B. That might give us some insights about your question. There might be some weird readings like auxiliary, auxtin3 etc.. Don't bother with them. They are just some random bad readings.
