My PC suddenly went from 25C to 50C idle and almost 90C under load temps since last week. What could be the cause and solution

I have watercooling (H80i) and I was previously overclocking, but since the temperature rise I've reset back to stock and I've cleaned the fans as much as possible with compressed air, and since cleaning the temps have risen even higher than they were before. It capped at 95C under load (playing LoL). I built it a year ago and this is the first time something like this has happened, prior to this the temperatures have always been stable, never over 70C.

Am I to assume that the cooler is fucked and I need to replace it? I still have the stock fan, so I can switch to that until I get a replacement, but I don't wanna do that if the fan isn't the cause. Thanks!

Had a very similar problem earlier this week as well (http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2211877/haswell-idling.html#13706274) and my solution ended up being a replacement of the proc and motherboard. Everything checked out physically , and i reapplied thermal paste with 3 different types.

You should be able to rma them both if you can't take the back to the store. Good luck, and I hope it's not as dire as mine was!!

Make sure the fans are actually spinning ;)
If so then check to see if the pump on the H80i is running with corsair link. If it reports that it's running check what it reports the fan speed at. The fan may be spinning too slow (for some reason)
