I would go for the asus (but you mean the r9 280x directcu ii top right?) I find itll overall give you a better performance, and it should be cooler and quiter, just as they advertise.

Sources: Im thinking of getting that badboy for my gaming rig.

the asus tends to have problems with artifacts, but other then that i find it can be more reliable (just update your bios for the artifacts btw). But honestly, i think your better off with nvidia, go with the asus gtx 770 oc, nvidia has way less problems, and from experience i find them quite reliable

Out of the box, you will probably not notice a difference in performance.

The ASUS has more phases in its VRM, and is built to be a better overclocker - barely.

Get whichever is cheapest, and be happy. No need to split hairs.

(That said, HiS brand is worth looking into as well.)
