I'm looking to buy a Asus GTX 660 (not TI, Top or OC) direct CUII (I think that's right)
How long will it last (be able to play games) until I need to upgrade, I'm also looking to get a AMD FX-6300 and am wondering the same thing about that. All responses are welcome and please don't be hateful!

the fx 6300 is a garbage budget cpu, definitely not worth it for the long haul, ( its better to think of it as a 3 core, IMO) and the gtx 660 will play most games at med-high @1080p currently, but in about 2 years or so you will probably have to start dropping settings down to low-med, after about 4 years, well its going to really start struggling for AAA games... then it will be time for an upgrade, so yeah in 4 years time (by my estimates) youl probably need a cpu, gpu and motherboard upgrade.

That's kind of a subjective question and really only something you can answer. Only you know what kind of performance you find acceptable and when you get tired of running things on low settings. I'm still running plenty of games on my i3-530 with a 6870 and it runs just fine for my TV computer.

How long until you need to upgrade is going to depend on what your requirements are for gaming. I'm still running an 8800GTS-640 as my gaming graphics card and it's paired with an Intel CoreI5-760 processor. It suits me well enough (not a big gamer) as I don't need to play games with every setting set to 11.

So you could install the card today and feel the need to upgrade tomorrow or be happy with it for the next four years (like I am).
