Hi I have a XFX R7 250 that is running at PCIE 8x instead of 16x. I need it to run at PCIE 16x so I can crossfire with the CPU. GPU-Z shows it running at 8x (even with the render test) and the CrossfireX option doesn't show at the Catalyst Control Center. I have already checked that it's properly plugged into the first PCIE slot, but I don't know what else to do.

Here's my hardware:
AMD A10 7850k
XFX R7 250
ASUS A55BM-A

Any help from someone more knowledgable than me is greatly appreciated!

take a soft cloth wipe the contacts off in case it a dirty contact. look inside the video slot for dirt or bent pin. try reseating the card make sure it locked in. also check that the mb bios is up to date.

I tried updating the BIOS, I downloaded the latest BIOS for my MB from the ASUS website and put it in a FAT-32 pen drive, but the EZ Flash 2 utility gives me a "Security Verification Failed" when I try to update it.

Ok I managed to update the BIOS and things are improved, I now have the latest BIOS running. The R7 250 now runs at PCIE 8x 3.0 instead of 8x 2.0, but I still can't do the crossfire with the CPU.

Any more help on this is greatly appreciated.
