Can I upgrade my broken motherboard without upgrading windows?

So the other day I was building a new PC. After I test benched it and installed windows I moved it into the case. However, me in my very tired state of mind put the CPU power into the GPU and GPU power into the CPU power. So as you could guess, the motherboard was shorted. I was wondering if I get the exact same motherboard. Keep the CPU and hard drive that has windows on it. Would I have to reinstall windows?

You can just swap out if it's the same make/model board.
  2. Ignore
  3. You might have fried more than your motherboard. make sure it wasn't an issue with the stand-offs not being tall enough.

We already took it into the shop and they told us it was only the motherboard that was damaged
