cpu heat sink airflow

the idea is to keep air around the processor............ in a stock heat sink and fan setup the air blows down. and the way the heat sink is designed it takes that air and spreads it around and blows across the motherboard components helping with cooling. so to answer your question.............. I think it would be stupid.
