won't boot- want to back up of my hard drive

Windows 7 won't boot, goes to startup repair.I have important files to back up from the partition. how can i get the back up of my hard drive from here when windows is not starting. It only showing in windows installation partition. Please let me help to get my data.


Issue with my Laptop:

Windows 7 home premium SP1 OS

Dell XPS

I hope your HDD isnt failing. Best to use it as little as possible until you can recover your data.

If you get a 2nd HDD, you can set it up with windows as your main hard drive.

Get something like this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182155&cm_re=drive_case-_-17-182-155-_-Product
(make sure it matches your HDD)

and you can pull the data off your drive like it is a thumb drive. (assuming it isn't too far gone)

I did this for a friend in your situation just recently and the drive immediately failed afterward. Lucky them.

Hard disk is working properly because I had done hardware system diagnostics before.

I have 2nd HDD ( WD 1 TB ). How can i set it up to get the data from that partition window. Windows is corrupted & i can only reached at partition window through reinstallation cd boot.

If you access the drive from a different PC, you can still get the contents of the user folder. That is what I attempted to explain previously.
