will that affect anything else? couldnt i simply change it to 2400mhz in the frequency selection?

Your motherboard may have changed other settings, if you simply load the XMP settings you can guarantee you ram is running at its factory design settings.

Alright, I did that, but now it seems my idle cpu temp has gone up about 8 degrees after reboot, would the XMP have set cpu settings that would create a higher temp?
