Buying Intel i7-4790K, Should I wait for Asus VII Extreme, or current Z97??

Hey everyone, the title basically says it all

I plan on getting the new Refresh chips coming out, specifically the i7-4790k...I believe it REQUIRES a Z97 board.

I was planning on getting the Asus Maximus VI Extreme board with the 4770k before I found the new chip is just around the corner, so with that said, is the Maximus VII Extreme going to be coming out any time soon...I like the ROG boards and didn't want to stray to a standard Asus Z97 board unless...they're the same?? Plan to SLI 3 GTX 780's and have an AC router so that was helpful.. Thanks!!

a Z87 board will also be capable of the 4790k, so a VI extreme is a viable option also.

So if you want a board now, then the VI Extreme will be for you.

I do see a reason to wait, but for what you really need, there isn't much of a point for what people hook up to the board.

what is your main reason for waiting....if the board is right around the corner, 30-60 days of the VII extreme model isnteal of VI (which would be z97)...would it be worth the wait, and would the price be significantly higher....and are they delayed or coming soon
