To start with I'm very inexperienced with computer components and the most I have done is install my graphics card and RAM, so my apologies for perhaps giving lack of detail with my position.
Recently my computer started to slow down, giving me a warning on booting up that my cpu was over temperature. Had a look inside to clean away any dust but noticed that my CPU fan wasn't spinning when I booted it up. After googling for an hour or so, checking it spins freely, looking for any visible damage (none) and repluging it, I think it may just be broken. (although this is just a guess from what I have seen)
So I'm basically looking for a little guidance as to where to start when replacing my CPU fan and heat sink; I mean I could get an identically replacement but it seems as good a time as any to maybe make an upgrade considering this one has failed on me. I understand that I need to get one compatable with my CPU but will also fit inside my case, however lack much confidence in buying anything from fear of it not working.
