I'm building a pc and i want to have at least some sort of dvd/blu ray player. I have few options and i can't decide if i shpuld go for ASUS BLU-RAY 16X SATA RETAIL BW-16D1HT/BLK/G/AS or ASUS BLU-RAY COMBO 12X SATA BULK BC-12D2HT/BLK/B/AS? The price difference in my country is about 40$. I have few blu-ray cds witch i would like to watch so i would like to know if 12x will be enough for me or i should go for 16x? Is it wirthy 40$?

Solution
You wont feel the difference unless copying the disks. For just play back blurays 12x is more then enough.
The ASUS Black 12X BD-R 2X BD-RE 16X DVD+R 12X DVD-RAM 8X BD-ROM 4MB Cache SATA Blu-ray Burner BW-12B1ST/BLK/G/AS Contains the software needed for bluray playback, the other model does not.

If you have a SATA cable then you can download VLC media player to allow playback of blurays. However many bluray commercial bluray disks are encrypted and VLC doesn't have means of playing those back.

For the simplest hassle free playback get the one with the software disk
