FPS stuck at 61 in BF4 with 290x and BenQ 2720T

The monitor says it is set to 120hz in settings, but fps is locked at 61 for some reason.

Found a couple of other people with the same issue, but no one seems to have solved it.

Have you disabled vertical sync in-game and in the control panel?

1. Are you using a HDMI cable ? Only a couple of rare and expensinve HDMI cables do 120hz, switch to DVI !
2. Disable V-Sync or enable it. V-Sync synchronises the FPS from the computer's signal to match your monitor's refresh rate (hz)
3. In your cards driver settings, search for V-Sync settings and either force it on or off.

I solved it by setting Preferred refresh rate to "Highest available" in nvidia control panel 3d settings
