how to know if a graphics card is compatible with my computer

my pc specs :
Motherboard : Gigabyte H61M - S2P (rev 2.0)
Ram : 4 Gb

i want buy : sapphire toxic r9 270x
and i5 3450
and psu : Antec Vp550p 550Watt is it compatible with my mother board ?

Think more simply... Your motherboard has a PCIe slot and your graphics card requires one. You are fine. The only thing you need to be concerned with is the potential output of your power supply. 550w is enough for an r9 270x (especially since you aren't overclocking).
