I am replacing the motherboard (and consequently the case) for my old Core 2 Quad CPU (Q6700), I am going from a (Dell Optiplex 745) BTX MB and case to an ATX MB and case. I purchased a Rosewill 80mm Sleeve Low Profile CPU Cooler RCX-Z775-LP, but it doesn't fit in the CPU fan mounts on the BTX MB. Will it fit in a regular ATX MB? The MB I am getting is the ASUS P5N-D LGA775 Nvidia 750i DDR2-800 ATX Motherboard.
Here are the links:
MB: http://
CPU Fan:http://

The description of the fan says it will fit a 775 socket, but it didn't fit in the BTX board.

1. If it will not fit could someone please advise a CPU fan that will?

Also, the ASUS board only has 3 fan controllers (1 CPU, 1 Power, and 1 chassis). The case I have http:// has 3 fans in it, and I would like to add a front fan to the set up.

2. How do I add the extra fans to the board?
3. Can I do it through a fan controller or a pci card?

Dell used a Properitary Heatsink up until the Core i Series. The mounting holes WILL NOT WORK. If its a Dell Motherboard you will NOT BE ABLE TO GET ANY OTHER HEATSINK TO WORK and it MUST be in a Dell case for the heatsink to mount properly because it screws into the back of the case it self not to a X Bracket or anything. The ASUS P5N-D WILL work with that CPU Cooler. I know Because i have that same motherboard with a Q9550 in it.

It has NOTHING to do with BTX VS ATX And everything to do with that you are using a board where they purposly do this kind of stuff so that you can't do the stuff you are doing. A regualar BTX board if you bought it from like ASUS would fit a normal Heatsink.

Thanks! Good info to know. I also figured out the answer to questions 2 and 3 as the ANTEC Black GX700 case I have has a fan controller in it and that connects directly to the PSU and it has 4 4pin fan connectors, so that solves that problem. Though some reviews say the fan controller in this case does not work very well. I may or may not purchase a better one.
