just upgraded my cpu to a amd fx6200 3.8

and im hitting 50-51degree temps when gaming using hwmonitor for temps(not having any crashing issues or anything)
when not gaming is varies from 18-29 depending on what im doing out of gaming.

is this cooler good enough or should I be looking to upgrade:
Akasa AK-CC4009EP01 Venom Pico Compact CPU Cooler

mobo is a msi970a-g46

paste used was antec formula 7 didn't like this though was very thick and a pain to spread.

if u think I need to upgrade what would u recommend?

You could replace the fan. your noise level would go down. You also may get better performance. Here are some options
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Noctua-NF-B9-Case-17-6-4-Pin/dp/B006ISKYPE/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1403313407&sr=1-1&keywords=noctua+92+mm+fan (I used these at one point and the were very quiet and performed well)...
When you said that the paste was a pain to spread, did you spread it yourself? If so, that is highly not recommended. When you spread it, you can create air pockets which decrease the amount of contact that the CPU cooler and CPU will have. Just a line the size of a cooked grain of ricer in the middle will work. The CPU cooler will spread the paste out with the pressure from installing it. If you want some good paste, the artic MX-4 or Artic Silver 5 is a good choice. If the maximum temperature that you get is below 60, then you are fine. The 50's are fine as long as you don't go over 59 (60 is a bit hot for an aftermarket cooler, and 62 is the max temperature).

ive pasted many cpus over the years this paste was just different to what I had used in the past was all its just thicker ive got no concerns with it I was just stating what paste I had used incase some1s first answer was try changing the paste.

max temp ive hit is 52 but the cpu fan is hitting 3k rpm to maintain that temp and is quite loud.

Running any of these in push pull (or push or pull) will be quieter and give you good performance.
