hi everyone.

i have a radeon r9 290 4gb it was working just fine in my gaming rig that i sold today.

i kept the video card and the 750 watt psu i had corsair TX750V2

i put the video card into an older dual core system that had an old msi nx7800gtx 256mb vid card, 2gb ram and windows 7

the old dual core computer works just fine with the 7800gtx but with the r9 290 it displays no video.

not sure what is up........ i looked in bios it is set for pci-e and even tried un-installinng the nvidia drivers first.

new r9 290 displays no video at all........ no boot screen either.

the card was just working fine up untill an hour ago..... is it the old motherboard??

seems like it would have to be at this point..... the r9 290 was just fine for over a month....

thanks in advance for any and all help.

system asus amberine-m motherboard
amd x2 3800+
2gb ram
win 7
750 watt psu
7800gtx (currently installed and working fine)

sapphire r9 290 4gb no display at all..... no boot screen.

Indeed, clutchc. Based on the other components (AM2 CPU, DDR2, etc.), it sounds like the motherboard probably has an old PCIe 1.0x slot. Some board makers updated the BIOS for 1.0x boards, others didn't, and still others only did it for specific boards. If the latest BIOS for the board is older than 2009, it likely didn't receive a PCIe 2.x compatibility update.
