I would like to make my own loop, but without a reservoir. Is this possible? Like an h110, basically, except i'd like a 360mm rad :p

Solution
will it work, yes

Is it worth it, no.

You want the reservoir, because if you don't the above is a solid case to what can happen but also the water quality tends to deteriorate much faster as well as hotter water going through the pipes, as with a reservoir, you can mount fans at the bottom to cool the water whilst it's sitting there.

It can be done, but I don't think it's a good idea. The reservoir doesn't have to be large or even noticeable. Just get a really small one and tuck it away. I think Linus has some good videos with a small reservoir. Scan through his vids on youtube and you'll see what I'm talking about. Their a couple years old by now, but relevant. You need somewhere for air bubbles to get worked out of the system. If you don't have a reservoir, that won't really happen. That can hurt your temps and defeat the purpose of water cooling altogether. Also, with the closed loop coolers like the h100i, the air bubbles have been removed from the system in the factory. You can't really do that yourself.

A reservoir is a coolant fill point, and a coolant level monitoring point as well, as the coolant level will drop in the reservoir over time and occasionally need to be topped back off, even when there are no visible leaks in the system, I personally would not even consider running without one.
