Hi,
I hope someone is able to help me with this. I recently switched from a Macbook Pro to a Samsung ATIV Book 9 Plus. My problem is that I had all of the files from my Macbook backed up on my external hard drive (a Seagate Freeagent GoFlex) and now that I wish to recover those files, I'm not able to.
The drive doesn't show up when I connect it via USB, but I hear the sounds.
I've tried looking in Disk Management and while I see it as Disk 1, but I'm not able to change the drive letter etc.
I won't be able to use my Macbook again, since it basically burned up the battery.

I hope someone can help me, with anything, honestly. Thank you in advance!

The problem is that Windows and Macs use different file systems on their disks. You have to install 3-d party software to be able to read Mac disks on a Windows system. There are 2 options for that: commercial programs like MacDrive and Paragon HFS+, that give a full access to a Mac disk (read and write), and a free program HFS Explorer, which seemingly outdated, but still works even on Windows 8.1. It will allow you to copy files from your Mac disk to the Windows computer.

Thank you so much - HFS Explorer worked and I have my files now! :-) You're a lifesaver!
