So I've decided I'll be getting the cooler master n600 case, and fitting a 200mm fan (specifically a betfenix spectre pro) to the side panel.

The thing is, if I get the hyper 212 EVO, I'm not sure it'll be able to fit, so I'll have to mount it on the outside of the case.
Does anyone have experience with mounting 180/200/230mm fans outside of a case? Is there a lot more noise or will it affect the temps at all?

I was wondering I should do this or just get a hyper TX3 EVO instead (and mount the fan on the inside). I'm not overclocking, just getting a third party cooler for a quieter build, so the TX3 should be fine if I get that.

Option 3 is I could just get a pair of 120mm fans, but would this be much louder than a single 200? I've looked at pictures of the side panel and it looks like 120's would fit with the hyper 212.

Thanks in advance for any help

Hi Mattib 050
your case supports coolers up to 167mm
the coolermaster hyper 212 evo stands 159mm tall
167mm - 25mm for fan = 142mm so with the fan on the inside its a no go
The coolermaster tx3 evo stands 136mm tall , leaves you 31mm to fit a 25mm fan so you will be able to fit your bitfenix 200 x 25 case fan with 6mm to spare

Thanks, but do you have any experience with mounting fans on the outside or know anybody who does? I don't really mind looking at a fan on the outside of my case, but would like to know whether it'll affect the effectiveness of the fan or the noise.

yes i do but why would you want to do this if you can mount it inside the case ?

Because the hyper 212 would be much quieter than the TX3. If I can mount it on the outside without it creating too much noise, I'd rather do this and get the 212, but if it'll create a load of noise then I'll go for the TX3.

there are quite a few good quiet low profile cpu coolers out there , if you really want to use the 212 evo i will run you through how to mount the 200mm fan on the outside of the case
