Hi all, had a question about the Z97 ROG boards. I have all of my components except the motherboard and custom water cooling items. I had been planning to wait on the Formula, but want to have this thing running solid before I move into college in early August. I have the 4790k preordered and 32 gb of ram and am planning to use the computer for gaming, media, engineering related things for class, etc. Is the Formula worth waiting for or will the Hero get it done just as well. I feel like I could add a sound card and only be missing a few overclocking benefits.

Thanks!

The Hero VII has a solid performance, the Formula has ROG armor and backplate that makes it more sturdy and to run cooler + the posibility of using water cooling for the heatsink on the VRM. I think the Formula is only worth the wait if you are going to be using a custom water cooling kit for the PC (CPU, MOBO, GPUs maybe?) otherwise the Hero is more than enough.

Hero is perfect for your gaming needs. Formula is well above that with many more features which actually don't contribute towards gaming. If you have budget and time then I would recommend Formula otherwise Hero/Ranger is a way to go. Why don't you consider Z97-A and save bucks!
