question regarding dual channel

Ok, i have an asus gryphon z87 motherboard and i see 4 ddr3 channels, so i have one 8gb kingston ram, where should i place it? 2 are black and 2 are light brown.

Place it in the first black port from the processor..
by the way you can place it any black slot.
but do read and find the markings for the slots, like dimm a1, dimm a2 etc.
and place it in the 0th slot or the starting slot ! or the a1 slot
. and do check the compatibility of the ram model with your board model!

You can't have dual channel with 1 stick. Z87 does not have 4 channels, it has 2. It has 4 slots though.
