Hey guys, looking for an LGA 1150 Motherboard that supports crossfire. So minimum is two PCIEX8.

It doesn't really matter if it's H87/H97/Z87/Z97. However I'd appreciate a few examples of cheap Crossfire Mobo's (so I can take my pick as I want a certain ammoutn of sata ports, Fan headers etc etc.). I'd prefer a H97/Z97 one but if there's a significant price difference I'd go with the H87/Z87.

EDIT: Forgot to mention I'm located in the UK.

Cheers,

Primordial Genesis.

You need to buy a decent Z series motherboard to have two 8x slots. I think maybe ASRock Z87 Extreme3 is the cheapest one

Of course Crossfire can work on a 4x port but I don't think it is a good idea. Both of the boards above are with 16x + 4x slots.

MSI Z87 G41PCMate in $75.66 in ATX

These two are the cheapest in their category of mobo size (form factor)

I need Two PCIEX8's, X4 is worthless.

Forgot to mention I'm in the Uk pal :)

That board is £88 cheapest and a Z97X SLI is £93, are there seriously no other cheaper boards?

Amazon has almost the same price. Nice things cost.

Quality boards from other brands are usually more expensive.

I know but my point was the Gugabyte Z97X Sli which also supports comfortable Overclocking (I've heard the ASrock ones don't) is only £94, not alot of difference for a 87 chipset from a worse manufacturer, so is that the rock bottom cheapest?

The cheapest mobo from Amazon.uk (using PCPartPicker) is ASRock Z87 Extreme 3 @ 87.55 pounds. pbm86 is right in his call. Your question was the cheapest. If you can buy Z97 X Sli then you have a budget :)

+1, the ASRock Z87 Extreme is the cheapest it'll get for a nice SLI compatible motherboard.

ASRock Z87 Extreme3 has a digital VRM and 8 power phase design. At least on paper it seems like a good mobo.

My contention is that if OP is considering £93 Z97 mobo then he should consider buying very good Z87 series mobo then the Z97 series basic mobo.

These two are good contenders in this regard:

ASRock Extreme 4

Gigabyte G1.Sniper
http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-motherboard-g1...

The G1 Sniper is better than the Z97X SLI?

I kinda wanted the 5th gen support if it doesn't cost much more, you know for £6 more (over the ASROCK) I'd prefer the 5th gen support.

In general I've heard the ASrock boards are poor quality, using cheap parts unless it's their top tier mobo's.

I've also read on a few posts on here, the ASRock boards suck at overclocking.

Sir,
I've checked the specs of Z97 SLI and board has good features plus good overclocking potential.

Board is recommended for your requirements.

So other than the ASrock and this Z97X SLI is that the cheapest?

MSI Global Z97-G55 SLI has more options/offers than Gigabyte Z97-SLI like MSI has 3 PCIe 3.0 x16 slot (support x16, x8/x8, x8/x4/x4 modes) whereas Gigabyte one has 2 slots.

Go for MSI Z97-G55 SLI.

Yeah I see where you're coming from but I've heard x4 PCIe slots are useless for high end GPU's,

Sir forget about x4. This mobo has support for crossfire in x16/x8/x8 which is really good.

I just checked MSI's website and it's 16,0,0 and 8,8,0 and 8,4,4. 16/8/8 is not mentioned.

Sorry,
I suppose it was my poor reading skill here. You are right. I omitted comma between x16 and x8/x8. My bad. Poor reading is regretted.

• 3 x PCIe 3.0 x16 slot (support x16, x8/x8, x8/x4/x4 modes)
• 3 x PCIe 2.0 x1 slots(PCI_E1, PCI_E3, PCI_E4)*
• 1 x PCI slot
* The PCI_E3 slot will be unavailable when the PCI_E4 slot has been installed.

So which is better? the Z97 G55 SLI or the Z97X SLi?

I've heard some bad things about MSI, so i'm leaning towards the Z97X SLI.
