My hard drive failed and my laptop wouldn't start up. Took it to a local shop to have them install a new hard drive and transfer my files. For the first few months it was working fine and now it has popup messages every 5 minutes asking me to verify Windows. In the bottom left corner it states that this copy of Windows 7 is not genuine. I purchased this laptop direct from manufacturer and had no issues with it for the past 3 years. When I tried to verify Windows with the code I have on the "Genuine Windows sticker type thing" it is coming up as being invalid. Seems they installed Windows Ultimate, instead of whatever lower edition I had originally. What can I do to solve this problem? I can't really get anything done with that irritating popup happening every few moments. Is there some way I can "downgrade" the version I have on my laptop now? I just want it to work normally again. Thanks in advance for all the help.
