Specs:
Intel i5-2500k @3.30GHz
16gb Cosair Vengance RAM
2TB Seagate Green HDD
Windows 7 64x
EVGA GTX 670
Gigabyte G1 Sniper 3 Motherboard
Corsair GS800 800w PSU
I use 2 Samsung SyncMaster S23B300 Monitors

When I run very simple games such as Gary's mod, L4D2, TF2, LoL, and Minecraft, they tend to crash frequently. They freeze and all the audio becomes distorted and then the game crashes while freezing my computer entirely. Before the crash, a checkered pattern appears on the screen. Usually it says Windows Kernel Mode Driver Crash and display driver has stopped responding and has successfully recovered. I've reinstalled NVidia Drivers many times and I still have this problem. I've also cleaned my card. Games such as Crysis 1,2, Bioshock Infinite, and BFBC2 run flawlessly.

It sounds like your GPU. Have you monitored the temps when these crashes occur? If not, install GPU-Z and log the stats then go back and look at them if a crash happens. My guess is that it is either high temps or (hopefully not) your GPU is failing. Usually that checkered pattern (aka artifacting) is an indication that there is a problem with the video RAM or the GPU core. If the temps are high, start by opening the PC up and making sure that your fans are spinning and that nothing is blocking the air flow in your case.
