Whenever I play games, after 5-20 minutes into the game the screen would go blank (turn off) and the only thing I could do is restart the computer. I uninstalled my drivers and downloaded new ones from the AMD website. After that the screen started getting dots and lines and it was all messed up. I uninstalled the drivers and everything went back to normal (except I couldn't play games anymore). I even reinstalled Windows 7 (formatted everything) and got new drivers, but it still does not work.

Now I am just using my old video card (Radeon HD 7770 GHz) and it all works perfectly, except I can't play on the highest graphics for games like Battlefield 4.

By the way, a couple of weeks ago this video card worked perfectly fine and no problems or anything. I got this video card back in December and it worked fine until recently.

Anyone know what the problem is? Any way to fix it?

My specs:

AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2GHz Quad Core Processor
Asus Crosshair III Formula AM3 ATX Motherboard
Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3-1600 Memory
Samsung 840 250GB SSD
Radeon R9 290 4GB 512-bit Video Card
Corsair TX850 850W Power Supply
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

I had the same problem as this when i bought the r9 290 but i resolved this problem by placing the graphics card into a different card slot on my motherboard which proved to work perfectly and cooled the graphics card right down so i'd suggest doing this and hope it works for you

Hi guys, I don't normally post on these forums, but after nearly a week of having the same issue and finally figuring out the problem on my own, I felt it was only fair to give you guys some info as to how to fix this issue - or what worked for me at least.

So I was using my sturdy Radeon 6950 HD for quite some time before I eventually chose to upgrade to the Asus Radeon R9 290X.

When I uninstalled my old card, and reinstalled the drivers from the disk for my new card, I had crazy problems, screen glitching, black screen, computer rebooting by itself, etc. I just couldn't get my head round the fact that surely it can't be the drivers from the disk if that's what came with the card. I was wrong. The drivers from the disk were Catalyst v.14.20 - THESE DO NOT WORK WITH THE CARD!

After reading many forum post of people returning their cards, etc and getting no replys as to which drivers actually do work, I took it upon myself to try out the AMD Catalyst™ 15.4 Beta Driver Optimized for GTAV. - THESE DRIVERS WORK WITH NO ISSUES!

Here is the link - http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/latest-catalyst-windows-beta.aspx

After hours of troubelshooting, this is what worked for me, I hope you guys have the same luck. Remember to completely clean your PC of any old drivers in Safe Mode.
