Can't restore Windows 7 on a new hard drive using Restore Discs ordered thru HP. Disc Drive keeps popping open requesting Disc One, which is already ln the drive. After a search, I found that the cd drive firmware may have to be updated before factory HP restore discs can be read. However I am unable to find a firmware update that will work. I thought I had found one, but during installation it stated that my system didn't meet requirements. The one I found seemed right (win 7 64-bit) but After a closer look, I believe the last number/letter was different, so that may well have been the problem.. It appears I'm locked in a vicious circle: can't install windows without the firmware, and cant locate the firmware. Found this out AFTER in installed the drive in another PC hoping to get the update and be on my way :-(.
I'm hoping that perhaps I'm on the wrong track here and someone can point out a simple solution. Thanks in advance for your assistance.
