Installing windows 8 on windows 7 - one hard drive, 2 partitions

I want to instal windows 8 without formating on windows 7 that i already hae. currently my rive is divided to OSpartition and data partition. and my question is ... after installation of windows 8 on OS partition will i be able to access files from 'data' partition ? I really appreciate any help :)

Well...I've seen multiple instances of people clicking the wrong checkbox or partition when everything lives on one physical drive, but in multiple partitions.
Result? The stuff they wanted to save is gone.

Strictly by accident, but it does happen.

With a new OS, your applications will have to be reinstalled. For your 'data', that depends on exactly how it lives on that other partition.

What do you want the end state to be? Windows 8, or Windows 7 + Windows 8?

If you are very, very careful, installing Window 8, replacing the existing Windows 7 should leave the 'data' partition still accessible.
