good psu brands

Solution

That is inaccurate. 80+ certification measures a PSU's efficiency at converting AC to DC. At the end of the day, this just saves you on electric bills. It does not measure a PSU's performance.

For example: http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=PS-650ACAG
That is a Sparkle 650W PSU with 80+ Gold certification. But I don't recommend anyone buying it.

Back on topic, good PSU brands are: Seasonic, XFX, Antec, OCZ, EVGA Supernova G2, Corsair (HX, AX, or V series), be quiet!, and PC Power & Cooling.

Thats an easy one to prove wrong, Raidmax has an "80 plus gold" PSU and its still a heaping pile of garbage.

If none of you tell us why you think so then your comments are worthless.

Raidmax is known to have pretty... questionable power supplies. It's a fire hazard to have in your system. A gold rated raidmax would do alright in a system that's not going to be doing much, just web browsing and what not. If you're going for something heavier, gaming/video editing/streaming/etc., then I'd suggest going for some brand with a better reputation.

Yeah, you originally showed me that in another thread, made an impression...

It's incredible that they're even still allowed to make power supplies. You would think lawsuits would be popping up due to fried systems and fires...

I have actually seen a 700w Thermaltake TR2 self destruct. The results were not pretty but I did win $50 and he got to buy a new mobo, cpu, ram, hdd, gpu, and of coarse a new psu. Wish I would have filmed it :(.
