Ok guys i am no stranger to building, gaming, Pc's though video editing is a whole new ball game for me. A mate of mine has asked me to build him one and i am absolutely lost with where to start. He is a heavy user of programs like the entire adobe suite, 3DS max and other things like that :')
Anyway from my understanding photoshop and premier support open CL as well as CUDA though after effects only supports CUDA (which is one of the most used programs on his PC) So i am leaning towards an NVIDIA gpu though AMD is not entirely out of the question as open CL is quite competitive in terms of render times, from my understanding. After a bbit more research i have found out that premiere cc supports multi gpu rendering from a list of supported cards. these cards only include GTX 6XX series and HD7XXX cards from amd and nvidia. is anyone aware of any hacks that would allow premiere to support multi GPU on GTX 7XX and R9 2XX series cards?
second CPU. I understand that Intel dominates amd in this section. though... if i chose a gpu that is well supported buy the adobe suite, and 3ds max and stuff, would it make up for the lower performance of say an fx8320 (OC to 4.6) when paired with 32gb of ram and a R9 290x/770 when compared to a 1230 v3 with a gtx 760/r9280x and 32gb of ram.
and last hdd/ssd. i know this should be fairly straight forward but i wish to know more about using ssd cache. as it stands i plan to use a 120gb ssd for os and programs and 2tb hdd for files (he has a nas) but i would like to know the ins and outs of using a 60gb ssd as a cache disk would there be any tangible performance increase that would justify the extra cost?
anyway the two builds (one amd one intel) are going to be listed below. please no fanboy wars!! I'm not here to see companies berated cause YOU prefer one or the other just help me find out what will work best for a mate of mine!
thanks in advance and i look forward to reading your responses.
