Hello. I have been getting a BSOD constantly that says something about a "paged fault in a non-paged area." I have been trying various different things to try and fix this error but nothing has worked and it has been constantly crashing multiple times a day now. I'm not quite sure what is causing the problem but based on the error notes it seems to be some sort of RAM or driver issue. If anyone knows how to fix this problem help would be greatly appreciated.

A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. It is suggested you look for an update for the following driver: hal.sys .

Solution

Hi,

"page fault in non-paged area" is a fancy way of saying "by its very definition this should never happen, but it happened anyway so something must be horribly horribly wrong; I'm done here, it's your problem now".

In most cases, this is a driver issue.

It can be caused by faulty hardware, but such a fault would be non-deterministic, you would not see the same error over and over again.

Check for available driver updates, and avoid using beta drivers unless they contain a fix for this issue.
