I have several 12 v cameras and a 4 channel dvr system. My problem is there are no power source where I want to install the cameras so I want to utilize cat 5 to power and send video if possible.

Run the power cable alongside the CAT5 cable. Use cable ties as required.

You need POE (power over Ethernet) cameras and routers or POE injectors to do this.

If the camera and the switch support POE this should work fine.
If not, 100 base-TX only uses two pairs of the CAT5 cable. I guess you may be able to use another pair to carry 12V if this pair is disconnected from the RJ-45 jacks.

If the cameras are wired to utilize power from the Cat5 cable, then get a PoE (power over Ethernet) switch, which will use a pair of the Cat5 cable to run power to them. The security company I work for does this all the time. The PoE switches cost more than a normal switch, but that's the cost of putting cameras where there is no power. Before you do this make sure your cameras are designed to use PoE. The Axis IP cameras I work with do not even have a power receptacle on them, they ONLY use PoE for power.
