My router is up stairs in someone elses room and I am downstairs. I am currently connected via wifi but I am not to happy with my connection. So my question is can I add a second router into my room that connects to the home network so I can connect via ethernet?

Solution
What you are talking about is a media bridge, like these:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CZ3Z5HI/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3P06TDB3CDPD0&coliid=I207YPRXVWD5EZ&psc=1
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0090DX8O8/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3P06TDB3CDPD0&coliid=I1FJ4M8YZKOS3V

The problem is if your device was not getting a good signal, then your router, or media adapter will also not get a good signal. So most likely your speeds will not be much better, if that is what your looking for.

I would like to have the routers wirelessly connected on the same network. Have one of the routers in my room to I can just connect it with an ethernet cable. Is that possible?

For some brands [like Apple] they are the same thing. That's why I asked what you were using.
