So I've upgraded the motherboard, CPU, RAM, and video card for my computer. After installing everything and powering it up, I was experiencing hard resets (shuts down immediately and reboots) every 5-10 minutes with kernel event ID 41 in the system log. I tried just about everything to troubleshoot and I finally narrowed it down the video card. I took out the new video card (MSI nVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti TWIN FROZR) and put my old video card (XFX nVIDIA GeForce GTX 9800+) into the new motherboard and I haven't had a single reset in the past two days. Here are the things I troubleshot prior:

- Memory test/swapped slots
- Swapped motherboard for another (previously had ASUS M5A97 R2.0)
- Tested power supply with multimeter (all voltages normal/within range)
- Wiped hard drive and reloaded OS (both Win 7 and Win 8)
- Ran disk check
- Removed everything from case and reinstalled/double checked every component
- Updated BIOS on both boards
- Cleared RTC RAM
- Uninstalled/reinstalled all drivers

The first thing I thought is that it was the power supply, but the new video card requires less power than my old one and the power supply tested out fine (as well as working fine with my old video card now) so I don't think it needs replaced.

My question is, could it just be a bad video card or is there a compatibility issue somewhere? I'm considering sending the video card back and getting an eVGA GeForce GTX 660 FTW Signature 2 instead. Any other suggestions for a video card in this range?

My rig:

Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth 990FX R2.0
CPU: AMD FX-8350 8-core 4.0GHz Black Edition
RAM: 8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz
Power Supply: Corsair 550W
New Video Card (currently not in the computer): MSI nVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti TWIN FROZR
Old Video Card (temporarily being used): XFX nVIDIA GeForce GTX 9800+
Hard Drive: Hitachi 1TB

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

-Mike

That was another thing that I wanted to try, I'll have to see if I can find somebody's computer to use to put the video card in and see what happens. I got the video card from TigerDirect so I'll probably RMA with them if I find the problem sticks with the card in another computer.
