I had my PSU die on me so I had to get a new one. When I got a new one, a firend suggested to me to get an SSD so programs will run faster.I re-installed windows on to my SSD drive and everything is working fine, but when I installed steam, I constantly have issues playing games. Every time I download from steam I get an error from Intel Rapid Storage Technology Enterprise that my SATA disk has disconnected, only to reconnect a second later. Also when downloading from steam, I get a high pitch squeal from my SSD. I know that the SSD is not supposed to make any noise at all but it is definitely the SSD drive making the high pitch squeal 100% as it never made this noise before I installed my SSD and I opened my case to see exactly what was making the high pitch squeal and the pitch is definitely coming from my SSD. I've checked the connection on my SSD and it appears to be fine. I can play ESO with no problems at all but when it comes to running steam, everything goes haywire! Even after running steam as administrator and verifying my game cache, my games will not run properly!! Everytime I verify my game cache, the game i just verified ALWAYS has numerous files that need to be reapplied. I have uninstalled and reinstalled steam & my games numerous times but still no dice grandma! Please help as I just bought a heap of games on steam but none of my games run properly.

To be honest I don't think what you are describing is even remotely possible. SSDs cannot "squeal". There are no moving parts. should not be coil whine. and it would not even be remotely related to steam.

But let's diagnosis. Do you have a hard drive you can install steam to and attempt downloads? try a large download to the SSD that is not steam.

Are you SURE you installed windows DIRECTLY to the SSD? when you did it was the SSD the only drive plugged in? Why do you even have " Intel Rapid Storage Technology Enterprise" turned on? have you tried shutting it off in the BIOS?

Thanks for your response, However I resolved this issue a while back and forgot about this thread altogether.
F.Y.I - I asked my friend to install the SSD for me as I wasn't sure what I should be using, turns out neither did he lol.
After pulling my pc apart, I noticed that my friend who installed it did not use a molex to pcie cable, it was a pcie cable running directly to the power supply of the SSD, therefore the SSD was receiving an overload of power which caused the SSD to drop out during heavy use (downloading). After replacing the cable, the SSD & steam has been running like a dream and the high pitch squeal that it isn't supposed to make has since ceased.

So, if anyone's SSD is making a high pitch squeal that it shouldn't be making – check the power supply! It's most likely from a faulty connection or not using the correct cable.
