32 bit Windows 7 on 64 bit laptop problem

My aunt's laptop has its hard drive dead so I tried to test my HDD there. It's from a 32 bit netbook that runs a 32 bit Windows 7 Starter edition. I'm not using it anymore so I took the HDD so I can use it as an external drive. I still haven't formatted the drive. So I put my HDD in my aunt's laptop(64 bit and previously runs a 64 bit Windows 7 OS) and it was able to detect it. I was able to go to the loading screen of Windows 7 but it just suddenly restarts from there. Is it normal? Anyway it also says before the startup that Windows is missing some files blah blah and I just select Start Windows Normally and it happens. Would a clean OS reinstall do the job? Or is it something hardware related? My aunt is planning to buy a new HDD and I will be the one to install it so I need to know what problems are happening on that laptop.

You can not just stick an OS drive from one PC into another... if you want to use the HDD in hers then wipe the drive and reinstall windows on her laptop

Yea most likely won't boot up. If you press F8 at startup and then select Disable Automatic Restart on System Failure you will get a Stop Code 0x0000007B which means wrong SATA controller Driver. It's probably not an issue with the hard drive but the fact that you need to reinstall windows.

If you have a PC that you can connect the drive to that already has an OS Download and install the Crystal Disk Info in my Signature. If it shows as Good when you run the Program then its not the hard drive. If it shows as caution or Bad post back what it is showing.

The HDD is working fine so I guess it's just the OS. Thanks!

to be clear its nothing to do with 32bit vs 64bit. its that you need to do a clean install. You should always do that when swapping drives between different hardware
