My aunt's laptop has its hard drive dead so I tried to test my HDD there. It's from a 32 bit netbook that runs a 32 bit Windows 7 Starter edition. I'm not using it anymore so I took the HDD so I can use it as an external drive. I still haven't formatted the drive. So I put my HDD in my aunt's laptop(64 bit and previously runs a 64 bit Windows 7 OS) and it was able to detect it. I was able to go to the loading screen of Windows 7 but it just suddenly restarts from there. Is it normal? Anyway it also says before the startup that Windows is missing some files blah blah and I just select Start Windows Normally and it happens. Would a clean OS reinstall do the job? Or is it something hardware related? My aunt is planning to buy a new HDD and I will be the one to install it so I need to know what problems are happening on that laptop.
