I have been wanting to finally upgrade to a new, custom built PC but don't really know were to start or whats good. if someone could help me get my barings in the physical computer building world, that would be great. thanks!

Look up online "How to build a gaming PC" there are literally 100's of instructional videos on how to get started, what to purchase, and what will be required. You need to decide a number of things, from your processor (AMD OR Intel) to your GPU (AMD OR NVIDIA) etc. You can build a great gaming PC for $1000.
