Hey guys I had an old intel processor that has finally died out in my PC. AS well, gameplay has been very choppy and my FPS dips down very low. Could the dead CPU affecting this or is my GTX280 dead as well now??

What CPU should I get?

Here are my exact specs(ram and gpu are different tho): heretheyare

I wouldn't even try to fix or upgrade an OEM pre built pc.

I would suggest an Intel i7 4790K. You'll of course need a new Z97 mobo (I have the Asus Z97 Pro). My reasoning is simple: Devil's Canyon will serve you well for many years, like your current rig has done. Later this year or early next, Intel's Broadwell CPU is expected. A Z97 mobo now will allow you to upgrade if you so desire without buying a new mobo.

An alternative is the i5 4690K, a little slower and without hyperthreading, but less money.

I wish you good luck in your upgrade quest.

I wouldn't try to upgrade it, it's pretty outdated. Start over and build a new system.
