Overclocking AMD Athlon X2 6400+ on Asus M2N4-SLI

I am new to overclocking and this forum. I have begun overclocking and can get to around 3264MHz without issue by simply adjusting FSB (CPU Freq 204) and Frequency Modifier (CPU Multiplier x16).

Any further than this and Prime95 gives “FATAL ERROR Rounding was expected less than 0.4….” I have an aftermarket heat sink all plumbed and ready to go and thus far I have had a maximum temperature of 49 degrees.

I think this might be a RAM issue after looking at similar threads.
How can I OC further?
Any help would be gratefully appreciated!

What you would need to do is add voltage. If you aren't able to add more voltage then most likely, you will have issues trying to get the CPU to OC further. That motherboard and CPU are both fairly old though. It may prove difficult to OC if the motherboard has limited options.

If the motherboard won't allow you to go past 1400, then you could put it at 1.400 and raise the clock speeds to see. But if it won't allow you to go past 1.400 then yes, you have reached your limits. Overclocking is based on voltage to the CPU really. Motherboards have difference features that save power or optimize it. But, in the end, voltage to the CPU is how you will be able to raise the clock speeds further. Once you hit a voltage or heat wall, then you will only be able to go to certain clock speed. Older CPUs are generally limited by voltages /features/ power saving options/ optimizations rather than heat.

So I raised to 1.4V and clocked to 3300 MHz (220x15). After testing under load I still see the same error in Prime95 almost immediately. Any clue as to what that is?
