So i Bought a MSI 970A-G43 and a 750W PSU, but the PSU only has a 4 pin connector and is connected to a FX-6100 cpu, now i have ordered a 4 pin to 8 pin extension and im wondering whether this will affect my system in any way and whether i can use the 4 pin cable while the extension is delivered?

Solution
It might not show up right away, but after a while you might notice weird blue screens. If you ran something that topped out the processor at 100% for a few minutes you probably would crash. 1%-85% usage probably wouldn't cause any problems for a while. But the point of the extra 4 pin is to help provide more power to the processor.

If the motherboard came with a little +4 pin sticker covering one of the holes that normally can work, if not look at the manual. I really don't like the 4pin to 8 pin adapters, if it hasn't shipped out yet try canceling the order and buy a molex to 4 pin. I wouldn't consider an adapter like that a permanent fix, just save like 50 bucks and buy a new power supply later on

Well im just looking for a bit information, i know a lot of people have the same opinion but then what's the point of the adaptor? I have alread set up the pc with the 4 pin and used it for more than 10 hours in a sitting and it seemed to work without a glitch, would it have problems in the long run?
