Help in compatibility of selecting new components.

Hey toms, I need to know if my Pc Cooler SilenX(friend gave me till I get 212), will work on a am3+ mobo if I install a phenom ii x4 965 BE. If not, then will a socket lga 1155 out perform my phenom? Or should I just get another am3 motherboard?

Should I upgrade in general?? Thanks.

It's much better to just get an LGA 1150 mobo instead of 1155 as lga 1155 is using Ivy Bridge which is dead now. Also there are many different models of the SilenX cooler, which one is it?

As long as the CPU cooler has an AMD mounting bracket it will work on all AMD boards. Depending on what CPU you get, an LGA 1155 CPU will outperform a Phenom II. To be honest though you are better off buying a newer 1150 socket CPU as it will be cheaper and will offer better performance.

My PC Cooler SilenX says it only supports lga 775/1366/1155/1156
Am2+/AM3...

When that cooler supports am3 it will support am3+.

The question is,do you already have these components?

I haven't looked at the fan and how it does,but getting an am3+ motherboard and the ability to overclock would be nice even with an older cpu like that.You could eventually upgrade to a fx 8350/8320.

This one is a nice choice and most of the times not too expensive,
