My PC has been having a problem recently that the network connection will come and go. It will turn on for a few moments, then off for a few moments. This problem will go on for maybe 10-20 minutes, then it will come back every few hours to a day. Alos, in will usually happen right after startup. It has been increasingly frustrating as off late, and I can't seem to figure out what the underlying problem is exactly. I tried reinstalling the LAN driver, but that didn't help, so I don't really know what to do now.

I'm using a Sabertooth Z77 that has an Intel 82579V LAN controller built in, and a belkin router a few years old that I believe may be a F5D8236-4N, but I'm not sure.

I would really appreciate some help with this.

First simple thing to do: Shutdown your PC and switch off and remove the plug of your router, and wait for 3-5 mins. Then again power on both the items and check whether the problem exists. If still the problem exists, try to update your drivers. Before doing this, check for 2 things(troubleshooting):

1: Is it the whole network connection, or the Internet connection going away? if the internet connection is going, the Network connection icon will show 'No Internet Access'. If the Network Connection icon shows 'Not Connected', that means that it's your PC's problem.

2: If the internet connection is going away, like I said above, (showing No Internet Access), then a t that time check whether there is an Internet light lit in the modem...
Well, the first thing that I would do is turn off your pc and any other devices connected to the router.
Disconnect the power plug from the router and also any DSL or cable modem and leave powered off for about 5-10 minutes.

Power back on the modem and wait a minute or two.
Power back on your router (if it is separate from your modem) and wait a minute or two.
Turn your pc back on and test.

First check if any other device shows the same problem on that connection. Like take laptop and use lan to connect to network and switch off wifi first.
If it doesn't shows the problem then your PC lan card needs repairing , And if it shows the prob, then your belkin needs attention or may be your carrier exchange is responsible(less probable)....

If it's not lit, it's the modem's or ISP's problem. If the network connection icon is showing Not Connected, then proceed further with next steps.

If you are running Windows 7 then Click Here to download the latest drivers.
if you are running windows 8 then Click Here to download the latest drivers.
If you are running windows 8.1 then Click Here to download the latest drivers.

If still the connection fades, then your LAN Card is dying and needs a repair/replacement. Take it to service center. If still it's the same problem, your Belkin router or your ISP is creating the problem, and nedds a repair/replacement . Contact your ISP if any of the given steps are not working.
