Not a huge gamer here, but I've tried a few mechanical keyboards and I want to make the switch. I have a Microsoft Ergonomic 4000 right now, and while I like the layout, I'd give that up to not have the crappy membrane keys.

I'm a software developer, so a lot of this would be for typing, but I also play a few games. Mostly Age of Empires II. For the games though, it seems like having a few macro keys would be nice.

I think brown switches would be good because I don't want something too loud, like blue, but I think I like the tactile feedback vs. the red/black/whatever. I'm kind of leaning toward the Razer Blackwidow 2014 Stealth (don't care about the backlighting for the ultimate) or Logitech G710+ (I read somewhere that's one of the quietest mechanical keyboards, not sure how true it is). And I do like the placement of the macro keys on those two. Of course I've only had a few chances to try the keyboards for a few minutes in stores, so I'm not sure.

I'm open to any recommendations or suggestions but don't want to spend a ton (under $150 though closer to $100 is even better). Thanks!

I don't have it personally, but I've heard good things about the corsair mechanical keyboards, the k70 and k65 probably have what you're looking for, I'm not sure about the k65 switches but the k70 comes with either red, blue, or brown, and has red backlighting (can be toggled off), a nice palm rest, looks nice, has grips on the wasd and number keys, but has no macros, however I find keyboard macros to be not that usefull, I make much more use of macros on a mouse, the corsair m40 mouse has two programable buttons on the side and is generally a really nice mouse (I own it), very comfortable, ebuyer sell it for £28 (about $48) if you're interested.
Not sure about american pricing for the K70 and k65, though they go for less than the razer blackwidow I believe, and you can get them secondhand if you want even cheaper.

K70 brown switch on Amazon is $160
Logitech G710+ $110
Razor Blackwidow Stealth $100

Is the Corsair one a lot better/worth that extra price, or did you just think it might be cheaper?
Also, I'd like to keep the numpad, so I'll skip the K65.

Looks like it will again be pricier than the other options, what's the advantage? I don't care about backlighting, but I don't know too much about the new switches it has or anything.

Since you live in the US (I assume, what with the dollars and all), Newegg.com will normaly be a better choice for anything pc related, it tends to be much cheaper than any other website, the k70 is $130 + $2 shipping at newegg.
As for if it is worth the extra $20, I don't own either, so I can't say, but Razer aren't exactly known for producing high quality products that last a long time (they have a pretty bad rep, although the blackwidow may be different), Corsair, however, are. Look up some review of each of them, and people comparing the two, and you can make your own mind up.

I regret waiting on this purchase. K70 is out of stock everywhere for brown switches. Amazon has it available in 1-2 months.

And I read great things about the Logitech, but then the reviews indicate the keys break easily, Logitech won't sell keys, and the size is off so you can't just get WASD keys or something else.

I guess I'll just keep looking for the Corsairs (with brown switches) to be available again.

Unless there are any other good quality keyboards I should look at in my price range (with brown switches).

Just earlier today (or last night maybe) it said "Usually ships in 1-2 months" so I thought it was out of stock.
"In stock but may require an extra 1-2 days to process." Sounds much better. I'll probably just jump on this. You make a good point about the numpad, but I still feel like I'd like to have it if possible.
