As my title suggests, I am in need of some assistance with my cable internet. At the moment the cable comes from the line to the house, then into the house and into a modem. It then goes to a router capable of wifi. What I am wanting to do is connect another coaxial cable from the box outside to the outlet behind my TV. It has a built in coax port on the outlet.
I don't have an actual TV service, just internet, and I'd like to somehow connect some device from the coax port and be able to run Cat5E lines to my Apple TV box and Xbox360.

Solution
You just need Cat5E (or WiFi or powerline) from the router to the AppleTV box and Xbox.
A splitter off the main coax won't work.

As above - what you desire is not possible. The coax is carrying the signal but only one box will work on it and you cant duplicate it. So you will have to use either long Cat5's or Powerlines to do what you want.

The ISP talks to one and only one device - the modem.
The modem talks to one and only one device - the router
The router can talk to many internal devices.

Solution?
WiFi from the router, or powerline devices.

For the time being I am just using WiFi but the Apple TV and Xbox seem to have some latency issues or just plain disconnection issues. I have a TP-Link USB adapter for my PC and it seems to handle the WiFi just fine. Maybe my problem is something deeper than just a hard line would fix?

WiFi is very environmentally dependent. I've seen a speed difference just moving a device a couple of feet. In my house, walking 15 feet down the hall upstairs results in a 25% speed decrease.

That's what I was afraid of, and why I am not a fan of WiFi. Maybe I can find a way to run the line without making it to unsightly. Thanks a lot for the help!
