Hi,
I am pretty new to the PC world, being a consoletard for my whole life. I know next to nothing about the insides of a PC so I need some help.
I'd like a PC that can play the latest games with ease, I also need to buy a monitor and a mouse/keyboard. The monitor can be bought at costco or similar local stores, something under 180 dollars with an HDMI port. I'd like a tough keyboard since I'll be doing lots of gaming.
I got this from choosemypc http://pcpartpicker.com/p/JbzgQ7
I know I need to swap some things out. I don't feel comfortable overclocking anything yet, so I rather go with a decent build that can do the computing just fine.
Thank you,
-FrodoSwaggins

Thanks for the quick reply.
As for the GPU, that's what the website chose. I have no problem with changing it since I've heard that it requires great cooling.
If I were going for it, would you suggest an extra fan or 2?
Also, what would be a good keyboard/mouse combo? And which monitor under 180 would you suggest?
Thanks for the help.

You need to do more research there mate :p. The r9 290 which used to get very hot has a reference cooler. This one does not. Don't worry.

Thanks for clearing that up. I might go for that one in that case. 1 more thing, do you think this card will be good for the next 4-5 years?
Also about the monitor, I found an Acer monitor on Costco for 149.99. According to the website, it is 24 inches, 1920x1080 and full hd lcd.
Here's the link.

Now all I would be missing is the keyboard and mouse. I don't want to buy "gamer" products because they tend to be really overpriced and full of useless features. I rather get a good mechanical keyboard, and a logitech mouse or something. Could you give me some tips on that?
Many thanks.

I'd recommend checking your local retailer's website or just go to their store to see what keyboard, mice and monitors they have.

Thanks, I'll take that into consideration.
Oh yeah, I saw that you swapped win8 for 7. Is there a big difference? I heard that win8.1 was a huge upgrade.
I would also like to know if it comes with Office. I am a student, so I kinda need it and I rather not spend 1 gorillion dollars on Microsoft's software.
Thank you.

You can choose whatever you prefer. I like Windows 7 because I didn't like the weird tablet friendly start menu interface. I'm used to the regular one so I chose Win7. My opinion shouldn't affect yours though. If you like Windows 8.1, then go straight ahead :)

Would just like to add that with Windows 8.1 you have an option to boot straight to the desktop and you would never have to see the Tile interface.

Also for the start menu, there are tons of free programs you can download to bring it back.

Windows 8 offers a slight performance boost from windows 7 and it will also be supported longer than windows 7.

That's what I heard. Does it come with Office?
Thanks.

No it does not come with Office. If you just need a word program for basic school work, you can try Open Office, which is free to download.
