uhm, 39-15 does not equal 39+ :p

Is the disk possibly scratched? That could be a problem if it is... I'd let it wait for the whole 39min...

XP is not supported any longer. If you use it and plan on using the internet you will not receive any new security updates. Might be time to upgrade or switch to a different operating system.

What the OP Asks for, Gets :D  (Unless there suggestions, Just being a smart ass :D ), Yeah, It is time to upgrade, XP has a bunch of performance problems that has been fixed in newer versions, I would recommend windows 7, If you aren't wanting to learn a WHOLE new type of GUI.

i just wanna know if the reason it is taking so long could be that the CPU is going out cause it is now installing devices after half an hour of stuck at the 39 minute mark

You could wait it out a bit longer as someone previously mentioned. If the CD has any scratches or problems reading, it could take longer to run the installation.

The Windows XP installation timer has never been accurate.
