Are the ASRock Z97 EXTREME4 and the i5-4690K compatible out of the box?

I just ordered a ASRock Z97 EXTREME4 on June 20th for a new build (my current computer is 6 years old) and will be ordering a new cpu within the next few weeks. My question is if I purchase the i5-4690K will it be compatible out of the box? I've read reviews stating I would need to update the bios on the Mobo to make the two work together.

Thank you tea urchin.... I'm not too concerned about overclocking but the i5-4690K is only about $15 more than the i5-4670 so I was curious. Thank you again.

The i5-4690 is $20 cheaper
