Intel HD 4000 Speed

Hello Everyone,

I am just a little confused by my i7-3770k. I have the CPU overclocked a little bit and the thing is pretty well undervolted.

I am making use of my Intel HD 4000 graphics. According to GPUz the clock speed is 1300Mhz. According to pretty much every website including Intel's website, the Intel HD 4000 Graphics chip on this card is only supposed to be clocked at 1150Mhz.

I am just wondering does anyone know why it is reporting like this? Has any other i7 came with this speed that anyone knows? I have had two different motherboards both with z77 chipsets, and I never adjusted the GPU clock speed and yet it still says 1300Mhz. It is strange. Not that I mind the speed boost.

Solution
I guess, it is possible if you have OCd your CPU.
The intel has inbuilt auto system for managing both the CPU n GPU.
When you OC Cpu's frequency it affects the fsb limits and the data transfer highway sends the packets with higher speeds. Now when Gpu receives packets at higher speeds it automatically adjusts itself to stop any delays. And you know that they are synchronised. unlike if you have an intel cpu and amd gpu separately the condition changes !
Though I may be wrong, just bring your cpu to standard rates and check again!

Well that explains how it turbos so that is helpful information to have. Thank you for that.

I did a quick check with my system and went into BIOS, set the GPU clock down to 1150Mhz, then booted up and played a game. I have MSI Afterburner being used for monitoring but it doesn't have the power to change the clock speed for Intel graphics oddly enough. Anyways using that to watch I played a game just for a few minutes to see and the GPU clock speed stayed put at 1150Mhz.

I do have the FSB boosted lightly on my system, it is at 102.7, and I have the CPU Multiplier for Turbo set to 41 I think, so I only have a light OC of about 4.2Ghz.

I thought for a minute that it might be the FSB change, but the base clock for the Intel HD graphics is usually 50Mhz with various multipliers, and it runs on a different bus system not FSB. So if it was at 102.7 then the graphics would be running at over 2300Mhz.

I don't know what it is, but it is a little odd this chip is different than most.
